Marbella
is currently one of the most sought after areas in Europe for people
seeking to buy luxury property and is made up of a number
of resorts and towns stretching from Guadalmina
and San Pedro in the west through to Cabopino in the east, including
the world famous marina of Puerto
Banus.
Marbella is unquestionably the most famous area of the Costa
del Sol
and notorious as a popular haunt of the rich and famous from all
over the world, as well as a popular holiday destination and permanent
home for people who want to enjoy the ambience and constant good
weather. Marbella is Southern Spain’s answer to St.
Tropez, with some 26 kilometres of sunny beaches bathed
by the Mediterranean Sea and where you can enjoy traditional
fish and seafood favourites like sardines on a spit, fried fish
and the incomparable Paella.
The
centre of Marbella is a cosmopolitan shoppers’ paradise with
plenty of high street names and exclusive boutiques. There is also
a great choice of bars, restaurants and cafés providing most
types of international and Spanish cuisine. You can choose
from small bodegas which have great selections of local wines and
tapas to upmarket hotels and fine restaurants. If you want to see
the traditional side of Marbella then a must-see is the old town
or ‘Casco Antiguo’ as it is known locally. At the heart
of the old town, once you have wound your way up through the maze
of narrow cobbled streets lined with traditional Andalucian
houses and boutiques, you will find ‘Plaza de los Naranjos’
or Orange Square. Here you will be surrounded by restaurants and
bars, while under the cooling shade of the famous orange trees.
Exiting
Marbella and heading west, you come across the Golden Mile, home
to some of the world’s elite and royalty. A long this stretch
of Marbella as well as finding many fine restaurants, you will see
some of the best Five Star Hotels in the area such as the Marbella
Club, Gran Hotel Guadalpin and the Puente Romano. Keep heading west
and you will find yourself in Nueva
Andalucia,
as its name suggests, the home to where traditional Andalusian
architecture and design thrive.
Heading
east of Marbella you will find the popular tourist destinations
of Fuengirola, Torremolinos and Benalmadena where a range of activities
for the whole family are at your disposal. Tivoli World, Selwo Marina,
Water Parks, Horse racing and Fuengirola Zoo to name a few. Further
east is the centre of Malaga, with the infamous pedestrian street,
“Calle Larios” offering a variety of extensive shopping,
cafés, restaurants, museums (Picasso Museum is worth a visit)
and many more site seeing opportunities.
There
are many different types of property for sale in Marbella,
either beachside or inland, with views to both the mountains
and the Mediterranean Sea. Golf course property is a popular
choice for many, consisting of homes or undeveloped
plots for self-build, situated around one of the many
luxury golf courses that now span the whole area.
Purchasing
plots of land is now one of the best investment opportunities
available, giving you the freedom to construct a home to your specific
requirements and tastes, for a fraction of the price of the equivalent
completed property.
