Sitio
de Calahonda and its adjacent regions, such as Riviera
del Sol, Miraflores and La Cala offer many attractive
amenities such as horse riding, golfing. In addition to
clients seeking an attractive second home, the areas attract
a lot of permanent residents, especially families, who are looking
for a first residence offering good value for money. Calahonda is
centrally situated between Marbella
and Fuengirola; providing easy access via the motorway to anywhere
on the Costa
del Sol.
Malaga's International airport is 25 minutes away and Marbella's
high-street shopping can be reached in just 15 minutes.
Sitio
de Calahonda is the largest property development you will
find between Marbella and Fuengirola. In fact, this neighbourhood
has grown so successfully that it could qualify as a town. However,
residents have been unsuccessful in their attempts to separate it
from Mijas, the municipality to which it belongs - and to which
they must pay taxes.
There
are three commercial centres with a good variety of shops and services,
restaurants, cafés and bars, offering everything from oriental
cuisine, international food to the exotic tastes of Southern
Spain. Typical dishes are seafood, particularly the "el
pescaito frito" famous in this area. Enjoying and experimenting
with Andalucian cuisine is a fundamental part of your stay in the
Costa del Sol.
The
area offers plenty of sports facilities with 10 golf courses
within a 10 kilometre radius. La
Cala Golf Resort is the largest golf resort
in Europe, featuring a David Leadbetter Academy, a 5-Star Hotel
and one of the most modern Spas in Spain.
Calahonda
also has its own port, Cabopino and a great offer of water sport
facilities, tennis courts and health and fitness centres.
There are also numerous sandy beaches (27 kilometres of coastline
and 24 different beaches to choose from) and good schools to choose
from, but one must not forget, that within a few minutes of Calahonda
is the best-state-funded 'Hospital Costa del Sol'.
Rural
flavour and coastal lifestyle are two of Calahonda's most attractive
features because, although the area is developed, its founder
was keen on green areas, large plots and limits on apartment
buildings. Thus, the area has grown in a generally peaceful and
rustic fashion with existing properties or plots of
land dotted all over Calahonda. As a result, there are few
high-rise apartment buildings in Calahonda, mostly villas
and townhouses are properties that mostly come
up for sale together with plots/land.
Calahonda
is regarded as a prime real estate area due to its proximity
to all major towns along the coast, whilst managing to preserve
the atmosphere of a small town.
